Who We Are
Imagination Stage is the largest and most respected multi-disciplinary theatre arts organization for young people in the Mid-Atlantic region. Imagination Stage serves 100,000 children and their families each year through professional theatre productions, arts-based classes, commissioned new works for the stage, Theatre for the Very Young, camps, conservatories, in-school residencies, and therapeutic devised theatre. All of our programs are informed by our core belief in making the arts inclusive and accessible to all children, regardless of their physical, cognitive, or financial status.
We strive to move toward a future where theatre experiences are a fundamental aspect of children's lives, nourishing their creative spirit, inspiring youth to embrace the complexity and diversity of their world, and helping them overcome their challenges with hope, courage and, above all, creativity.
What We Do
We will use donations to cover the costs of providing free theatre tickets and transportation for all 3,000 MCPS Title I third graders to attend the performance (approximately $50/student). While this is the majority of the cost of the program, Imagination Stage dedicates the time of several teaching artists and education staff to work collaboratively with MCPS teachers and educators to produce a theatre arts guide (T.A.G.). In 2015-16 Imagination Stage will be offering a professional development course that will provide continuing education credits for teachers. Participation will be determined via a lottery as we anticipate more interest than funding will allow. With additional funding we would like to offer this to all teachers across MCPS that wish to participate.
